Cost Accountant
Job Description

An industrial machinery manufacturing company in Tukwila, WA is seeking a Cost Accountant to work closely with both local operations and corporate accounting. This role requires hands-on involvement in areas such as work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and inventory management for serialized parts. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a background in construction accounting and cost accounting, with the adaptability to work in a fast-paced, industrial setting.
Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000 / year DOE
Cost Accountant Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed cost analysis, WIP calculations, and manage percentage-of-completion reporting
- Monitor serialized and non-serialized inventory; collaborate with facility teams to ensure accurate pricing and stock levels
- Act as the primary point of contact between corporate accounting and local administrators
- Travel to regional facilities to support on-site inventory audits and pricing validation
- Collaborate with the controller to maintain accurate financial records and close monthly reports on schedule
- Identify and implement best practices for cost and inventory controls in a service and repair environment
Cost Accountant Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in construction accounting, with an emphasis on cost accounting
- Proficiency in WIP and percentage-of-completion reporting
- Experience with physical inventory
- Familiarity with Sage 100 preferred or a comparable accounting system
- Bachelor s degree in accounting or finance is preferred, but not required
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage effectively across teams
