Job Description
Fully Onsite
A reputable apparel designer, manufacturer, and wholesaler in New York, New York is looking for an experienced Controller to lead its financial operations. This role is key in overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance, while providing guidance to the Accounts Receivable team. Working directly with the CEO, the Controller will also manage financial audits, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the company s strategic goals. The ideal candidate is highly organized and reliable with strong accounting experience.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 / year DOE
Controller Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and internal/external reports
- Assist in budget preparation, monitor performance, analyze variances, and provide forecasting reports for management decision-making
- Manage daily accounting functions, including payroll, AP, AR, general ledger, and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Oversee tax filings, minimize liabilities, and maintain strong internal controls
- Coordinate annual audits, liaising with external auditors, and ensuring compliance with audit recommendations
- Supervise and support AR team, providing training and development
- Partner with executive management and other departments to align financial data with company goals
Controller Requirements:
- 7-10 years in accounting, with at least 5 years as a Controller
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and Word
- A2000 CRM software experience is preferred but not required
- Apparel industry experience is preferred but not required
