Job Description

An established construction firm in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee and enhance its financial operations. This position is pivotal in managing pay applications, subcontractor invoices, project-specific accounting, and preparing detailed financial reports. The Controller will provide strategic guidance, mentor team members, and recommend process improvements to align with the firm s growth goals. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-focused, and brings construction industry expertise, strong Excel proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative and flexible environment.
Controller Responsibilities:
- Manage financial operations, including pay applications, monthly billings, and subcontractor invoice approvals
- Develop and maintain detailed project reports, tracking profit margins and ensuring accuracy
- Evaluate and implement financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with leadership to provide strategic financial insights, enabling growth and informed decision-making
- Oversee payroll, expense reports, and financial reconciliations for multimillion-dollar accounts
Controller Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field
- 3 5 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably with general contractors
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel (including v-lookups and pivot tables)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage financial operations
- Proven ability to analyze financial data and propose effective strategies
