An established construction firm in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee and enhance its financial operations. This position is pivotal in managing pay applications, subcontractor invoices, project-specific accounting, and preparing detailed financial reports. The Controller will provide strategic guidance, mentor team members, and recommend process improvements to align with the firm s growth goals. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-focused, and brings construction industry expertise, strong Excel proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative and flexible environment.

Controller Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial operations, including pay applications, monthly billings, and subcontractor invoice approvals
  • Develop and maintain detailed project reports, tracking profit margins and ensuring accuracy
  • Evaluate and implement financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with leadership to provide strategic financial insights, enabling growth and informed decision-making
  • Oversee payroll, expense reports, and financial reconciliations for multimillion-dollar accounts

Controller Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field
  • 3 5 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably with general contractors
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel (including v-lookups and pivot tables)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage financial operations
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data and propose effective strategies
