Construction Project Accountant
Job Description
Are you an experienced accountant with a background in construction projects? Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle for their multifamily construction projects out of their office in Jacksonville, FL. Reporting directly to the CFO, your day-today will consist of managing AP/AR, track change orders, and work with specialized construction accounting software. This role requires familiarity with AIA forms and strong collaboration with our project management team.
Construction Project Accountant Requirements:
- 2-5+ years of experience in construction project accounting
- Experience in handling AP/AR, lien waivers, and billing for change orders
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- Proficiency in Sage 300 and AIA forms is highly desired
- Familiarity with Core Pay and specialized construction accounting software is a plus
- Must live in the Jacksonville area and willing to come in office 5x a week
Responsibilities:
- Enter contract and subcontract details, including budgets and change orders, into Timberline
- Process and cost-code invoices, check runs, and pay applications for clients and subcontractors in Timberline
- Draft and track waivers for pay applications, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Provide monthly Job Cost reports and ensure accuracy in cost code activity
- Interface with Project Managers and Senior Management on construction accounting
- File documents electronically and handle vendor/subcontractor inquiries
- Manage special payment terms, monitor joint check agreements, and maintain relationships
- Perform multi-state sales tax reporting and oversee job close-outs, including lien waivers
- Verify current labor compliance and perform other duties as assigned by the Controller
