Construction Controller
Job Description

A well-known firm in North Brookfield, MA is seeking a Construction Controller to oversee financial operations for diverse construction projects. This role involves managing job costing, change orders, cost projections, multi-state tax compliance, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate will lead financial strategy, ensure accuracy in reporting, and collaborate with project teams. This candidate also serves as a proactive leader with over 10 years of accounting experience, including 5 years in construction accounting, who thrives in a dynamic environment and takes ownership of department success.
Construction Controller Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including job costing, change orders, cost projections, and month-end close
- Manage financial operations for multiple high-value projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Handle multi-state tax regulations and subcontractor/vendor management
- Train and lead the accounting team, recommending process improvements and staffing as needed
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely financial tracking and reporting
Construction Controller Requirements:
- 10-15 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in construction-related accounting
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered
- Proficiency in job costing, change orders, and WIP reporting
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables) and familiarity with QuickBooks and Procore
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team
