Commerical Construction Full-Charge Bookkeeper
Job Description
A flooring retailer in Hyattsville, Maryland is seeking a Commercial Construction Full-Charge Bookkeeper. This role involves overseeing all accounting functions, including AR/AP, progress billings, payroll coordination, and more, in a family-owned and well-established flooring company. The ideal candidate will be organized, reliable, and proactive, with a strong foundation in commercial construction accounting.
Commercial Construction Full-Charge Bookkeeper Responsibilities:
- Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Prepare and process AIA applications for progress billings
- Enter transactions into QuickBooks, including checkbook entries
- Serve as the point of contact for bi-weekly payroll, which is outsourced to ADP
- Reconcile general ledger and perform monthly and year-end closings
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Assist with sales tax preparation
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with industry standards
- Handle other accounting duties as needed
Commercial Construction Full-Charge Bookkeeper Requirements:
- 3-5 years of accounting experience in a commercial construction environment
- High school diploma required; Bachelor s degree is preferred but not required
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Suite
- Experience with commercial construction accounting, including AIA billing
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as the sole accounting staff member
- Reliable, on-time, and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently
