CFO/Controller
Job Description
An industry-leading and rapidly growing water sports and marina management company in Ocean City, MD, is seeking a versatile and high-performing CFO/Controller. This role offers the unique opportunity to become an integral part of a company that has seen exponential growth in recent years. They are looking for candidates with at least 6 years of experience in finance and accounting within a corporate environment, with a proven ability to oversee financial planning, reporting, and analysis. CFO/Controller Requirements:
- 6-10 years of experience in finance and accounting within a corporate environment
- Strong financial planning, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Proven experience in leading and developing a team
- Excellent proficiency in accounting and corporate finance concepts
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Bachelor s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field; Master s degree and/or CPA preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment, especially during the busy season
- Experience in the maritime, fundraising, venture capital, or private equity sectors is preferred
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong desire for growth and making a significant impact i
- Familiarity with the camping or water sports industries is a plus
CFO/Controller Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations, including financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports for company leadership
- Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets
- Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
- Manage accounts payable and ensure timely fulfillment of owner and investor needs
- Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability
- Support ad hoc projects and drive system improvements to facilitate the company s growth
- Oversee and manage accounting systems, including QuickBooks, ADP, Sage Intacct, and Excel
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with external advisors, including tax professionals, to optimize financial outcomes
- Play a key role in developing and implementing the company s upcoming bonus structure
