Accounting Specialist
Job Description
A nationally leading insurance brokerage firm in Deerfield, FL is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its growing team! This dynamic role involves managing accounts payable and receivable processes, contributing to month-end close activities, preparing simple schedules, and managing bank reconciliations and cash receipts. They are looking for candidates with at least 3 years of accounting experience, including AR/AP and exposure to general ledger. You can look forward to a newly renovated, fast-paced office with a mix of early-career and seasoned professionals who are friendly and focused on delivering results! The position offers a 3-day in-office, 2-day work-from-home hybrid schedule, generous PTO policy, and much more!
Salary Range: $65, 000 - $80, 000 / year DOE
Accounting Specialist Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of accounting experience, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger exposure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas)
- Experience in the insurance industry or Epic accounting software is preferred
- Familiarity with banking processes such as positive pay and check entries is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred but not required
Accounting Specialist Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing
- Support month-end close activities and assist with preparing simple schedules, such as prepaid schedules
- Handle bank reconciliations, ensuring all cash receipts are properly posted to client accounts and scanned into the bank system
- Review and pay invoices from insurance companies and brokers, aligning payments with due dates
- Perform frequent bank entries, maintaining accurate and organized financial records
- Process approximately 100 invoices per week, verifying and tracking payment status
