AV Show Control Designer
Job Description
A leading innovator in show control and audiovisual systems is seeking a talented AV Show Control Designer to join their team in Orlando, FL! This role involves designing cutting-edge control systems for some of the most exciting and creative projects, including immersive experiences at museums, theme parks, and media installations. You ll be responsible for creating technical designs that integrate audio, video, lighting, and automation systems, ensuring they function seamlessly and meet the client s vision. If you have a broad technical background in AV design, control systems, and networking, and enjoy tackling both creative and technical challenges, this position is perfect for you. The role is ideally hybrid, based out of Orlando, with some travel required for project implementation, fully covered by the company. However, the client is open to highly qualified remote candidates who can meet the travel requirements.
AV Show Control Designer Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience designing and implementing AV and control systems for commercial applications
- Proficiency with control systems like Medialon, Q-SYS, or Crestron, and a solid understanding of AV networking
- Experience with technical design software such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks, and MS Visio
- Strong understanding of audio and video processing systems (e.g., Barco E2, Q-SYS, Analog Way Aquilon)
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Excellent communication and client interaction skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts
- Willingness to travel for on-site work as needed
- Experience with media servers like Pixera, 7th Sense, Disguise, and Watchout is preferred
- Familiarity with scripting/programming languages (e.g., Lua, JavaScript) is preferred
- Advanced networking experience for AV systems (e.g., VLANs, PTP) is preferred
AV Show Control Designer Responsibilities:
- Design and develop integrated control systems for audio, video, lighting, and other show control elements
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand project requirements and create technical designs
- Produce detailed design documentation, including block diagrams, CAD drawings, and technical narratives
- Coordinate with installation teams to ensure designs are implemented correctly and troubleshoot any issues
- Provide on-site support during system installation, programming, and final commissioning
- Assist with the development of user interfaces and control programs for system automation
- Travel to client sites periodically to support system installations, typically every two months, with longer trips once a year for larger projects
