AP Specialist
Job Description

A dependable renewable energy company is seeking an experienced AP Specialist to join their team in Durham, North Carolina. This hybrid position offers an opportunity to manage 50-100 invoices per month, ensuring accurate coding to general ledger accounts, processing payments via checks, ACH, and wire transfers, and reconciling accounts payable transactions. Key tasks include maintaining vendor records, processing employee expense reimbursements, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and detail-oriented, with 2-3 years of accounts payable experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing renewable energy company!
AP Specialist Responsibilities:
- Process, verify, and reconcile invoices monthly, ensuring accuracy and proper coding to general ledger accounts
- Prepare and execute payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers, while monitoring account accuracy
- Maintain and update vendor records, resolving inquiries and discrepancies in a timely manner
- Review and process employee expense reimbursements, ensuring compliance with company policies
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and assist with month-end and year-end closings
- Maintain organized records to ensure compliance with policies and support audit requirements
AP Specialist Requirements:
- 2-3 years of accounts payable experience with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel at an entry level
- High school diploma required; additional education or certifications are a plus
- Experience in renewable energy or familiarity with Workday software is preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a start-up environment with a "get it done" mindset
