Job Description


A rapidly growing construction company is looking for an experienced AP Staff Accountant to join their team in Galveston, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying and approving invoices and payments, preparing payments via ACH, wire, or check, and entering/tracking all payments in QuickBooks (transitioning into an ERP system soon). This position will also have project accounting duties. 

Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000 DOE 

Responsibilities: 
  • Review and approve invoices and payments. 
  • Prepare payments via ACH, wire, or check. 
  • Enter and track payments in QuickBooks (transitioning into an ERP system soon). 
  • Collaborate with Project Accountants to verify invoices or address discrepancies. 
  • Audit and review vendor invoices for accuracy and reporting discrepancies to the VP. 
  • Maintain organized records of payments, invoices, project reports, and other financial documents in QuickBooks and in their new ERP systems. 
  • Coordinate with Project Accountants to track and vendor payments and ensure timely processing of invoices. 
  • Ensure compliance is maintained by Project Accountants in regard to job costing, lien releases, insurance, and payroll. 

Requirements: 
  • 2-5 years of Accounts Payable accounting experience in the construction industry or a similar field. 
  • Knowledge of GAAP/strong AP experience specific to the construction industry. 
  • A foundational understanding of cost accounting processes. 
  • Strong professional communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to communicate with all levels. 
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. 
  • Project accounting software experience and QuickBooks experience 
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Bachelor's Degree is STRONGLY preferred in Accounting/Business Admin/Finance. 
  • Team player mentality with the ability to work independently. 
  • The thicker-skinned individual that is able to communicate well with a diverse crowd.
