Billing Coder
Job Description
A Non-Profit health and wellness organization in Alpine, CA is seeking a Billing Coder to join their team in a temp-to-hire contract! As a Billing Coder, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical claims for our client’s medical and behavioral health practice. The position requires 1-2 years of coding experience, and the ability to play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and reimbursement policies.
This temporary contract role will convert to a permanent position after 90 days and then you will receive amazing benefits such as 100% of insurance premiums covered for medical, dental and vision insurance. In the meantime, you will be offered amazing benefits from BTQ in the interim!

Pay Range: $21 - $31/hr DOE

Responsibilities:
- Review daily patient charts and assign appropriate codes for medical and behavioral health services
- Address any discrepancies or missing information in the coding and promptly respond to diagnosis-related updates and required lab additions
- Assist in medical and behavioral health insurance verifications when needed
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies, ensuring accuracy and adherence to coding guidelines
- Follow up on missed payments and billing inquiries to facilitate timely reimbursement
- Collaborate with the Billing Manager and team to manage a high volume of claims
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of coding experience
- Must have medical coding experience
- Must hold a certification from AAPC, AHIMA, or NHA
- Familiarity with NextGen is preferred
- Experience in dental and behavioral health coding is a plus.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred
