Remote Nonprofit Senior Accountant
Job Description
A renowned nonprofit organization in St. Louis, MO that helps to create career paths for diverse high school and college students across the US is searching for a skilled Remote Nonprofit Senior Accountant! They are looking for candidates who live in the Central Time Zone with at least 5 years of nonprofit accounting experience, especially 501 3c. This position offers a competitive salary, generous time off, and the chance to be part of a mission-driven organization with a friendly and flexible work environment!
Pay Range: $95,000 - $100,000 DOE
Responsibilities:
- Manage a broad spectrum of accounting operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, payroll, and tax filings
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for the accounting department in collaboration with the executive leadership
- Conduct detailed journal entries, bank and GL reconciliations
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements
- Handle payroll processing for a multi-state workforce
- Collaborate with the AP/AR specialist on relevant financial tasks
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in nonprofit accounting, with a preference for candidates familiar with 501(c)(3) organizations
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting practices
- Proficiency in using Excel, Paylocity, and QuickBooks Online for various accounting tasks
- Prior experience in grant accounting is an advantage
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote work setting
