About:

Looking for a stable company where your accounting skills are valued, your contributions make a difference, and you can build a long-term career? We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join its growing accounting team. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role will take ownership of day-to-day AP operations, including processing vendor invoices, entering and reconciling transactions, matching checks and remittances, reviewing vendor statements, and supporting purchase order matching. You’ll play an important role in keeping financial operations organized and accurate while working closely with a small, collaborative accounting team. This is a great opportunity to join an established construction company known for its stability, consistent workload, and long-tenured leadership. The ideal candidate is an organized, dependable accounting professional with at least 3 years of Accounts Payable experience, strong attention to detail, and preferably a background in construction accounting who enjoys working in a steady-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and accurately enter vendor invoices into the accounting system while ensuring timely and organized payments
  • Review and reconcile vendor statements, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding invoice issues
  • Match checks, remittances, and supporting documentation to ensure accurate payment records
  • Perform three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documentation to verify transaction accuracy
  • Maintain organized vendor records and review documentation, including certificates of insurance, as needed
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Controller and accounting team to support daily AP operations and maintain accurate financial records

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on Accounts Payable experience
  • 2+ years of construction industry AP experience strongly preferred, including experience with subcontractors, general contractors, or owners
  • Familiarity with construction billing documentation, including G702 and G703 forms, is a plus
  • Experience with Sage 100 or Sage 300 preferred, with QuickBooks experience also considered
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately process invoices, reconcile statements, and identify discrepancies
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, though relevant experience will be considered

Benefits:

  • 401(k) plan with immediate eligibility and a company match after one year
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance through UnitedHealthcare
  • 12 days of annual PTO, including sick time, accruing from your first day
  • Long-term job stability supported by multi-year contracts and a consistent project pipeline
  • Bonus eligibility with additional earning potential
  • Join a close-knit accounting team with experienced leadership and opportunities to take on additional responsibilities over time

Ready to put your AP expertise to work with a stable, established construction company? Apply today and take the next step in your accounting career!
