Job Description
Position Title: Assistant Director
Three Assistant Director seats are open in Los Angeles, New York and Cleveland, each built around a book of business and a mission that gives clients a reason to buy. The role is about 85 to 90 percent selling, with the remainder devoted to administrative support for registered representatives. A hire may inherit an existing book or build a new one, working from Salesforce lists of upcoming maturities and past buyers who have not yet purchased this year, with call-center support behind the effort.
The organization has operated for 75 years, produces about $2.4B in annual sales and holds less than 2% of its core market, which leaves substantial room to grow. Leadership knows every one of the 144 employees by name. Because pay carries no commission, colleagues do not compete over clients, and sales incentives are set for the whole office. Tenure of 25 to 40 years is common, and the succession path is clear. The Cleveland hire is positioned to step into a director role, and the Los Angeles hire builds bench strength for the executive director position. Thank you for your time in reviewing this opportunity.
Salary Range: $100,000 – $125,000 / Year DOE
Plus sales incentives and discretionary performance bonuses tied to office goals and KPIs
After hire, production of at least $15M is expected for compensation at the $110K level and above. Higher base pay carries higher production expectations, and the organization allows runway to reach that level.
Assistant Director Responsibilities
- Sell the organization’s investment product to individuals and institutions, either maintaining an inherited book of business or building a new one
- Meet with clients and prospects, often over dinners, brunches and lunches
- Network with contacts and centers of influence, and speak at synagogue, community organization and charity events, as well as hosted house parties
- Conduct consistent phone outreach, working Salesforce lists of upcoming maturities and past buyers who have not purchased this year
- Provide administrative support to registered representatives, which represents about 10 percent of the role
- In Los Angeles, cover a large territory that extends toward San Diego and Orange County
- Work from the local office four days a week, with most of that time spent out of the office meeting clients, networking and attending events
Assistant Director Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 to 5 years of sales or development and fundraising experience, with a record of sales success, ideally within the Jewish community, where established relationships and connections help build a book
- Series 7 and Series 63 licenses, which are required in 47 states, following the path of the SIE, then the Series 7, then the Series 63. Candidates who are not yet licensed may be hired at a reduced salary until licensing is complete
- Candidates from outside the Jewish community may be considered when they can demonstrate their own relationships, such as family office connections, and the ability to bring in $15 to $25M
- Willingness to keep standard hours during the probationary period because of remote training from New York and scheduled meetings
Benefits
- Medical, dental and vision coverage, with the company paying a substantial share of the medical plan, along with an HSA contribution on the high-deductible plan
- A best-in-class 401(k) with an employer match plus a non-elective contribution, recognized by Plan Sponsor and held with 99.6 percent participation
- Paid sick and personal days, federal holidays and the major Jewish holidays
- Life insurance, company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, legal services and pet insurance
- A company card, with mileage and all business expenses reimbursed
- A clear succession path and a patient, team-oriented environment in which colleagues share common goals
Qualified sales and fundraising professionals with strong community relationships are encouraged to apply today and build a book of business with a stable, mission-driven organization that rewards patience and teamwork.
