One of the nation’s leading boutique law firms is hiring a Litigation Associate to join their fast-growing team in San Francisco. Attorneys at this firm take ownership of high-profile, complex cases, leading matters from inception through trial, collaborating closely with partners and co-counsel, and advocating for justice against corporate giants like Microsoft and Google. This is a rare opportunity to join a mission-driven firm known for its teamwork, integrity, and results. Ideal candidates are strategic litigators with 4–15 years of experience, strong case leadership skills, and a desire to make an impact in plaintiff-side antitrust or complex litigation.

Salary Range: $200,000 – $325,000 / year DOE

Litigation Associate Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of litigation from case strategy through trial or settlement
  • Draft and argue motions, complaints, pleadings, and discovery
  • Take and defend depositions; prepare witnesses and experts
  • Handle meet-and-confers, discovery negotiations, and motion practice
  • Participate in trial prep and occasionally trial
  • Collaborate with co-counsel, clients, and internal teams across case matters
  • Supervise junior attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support staff
  • Travel 1–2 times a month for depositions or client meetings
  • Track and manage all case developments with autonomy and judgment

Litigation Associate Requirements:

  • 5–10 years of complex civil litigation experience, ideally including class actions; background in insurance defense, employment law, construction litigation, or business litigation
  • Licensed and in good standing with the California Bar
  • Proven ability to independently lead cases from inception through resolution, including pleadings, contested motions, discovery, depositions, and expert coordination
  • Demonstrated success preparing high-level litigation briefs (complaints, MSJs, class certification, oppositions to motions to dismiss, etc.)
  • Skilled in managing complex discovery, including e-discovery databases, developing strategic search terms, and handling adversarial Meet & Confers
  • Exceptional legal writing skills, ability to write with precision, clarity, and strategic narrative
  • Prior experience at mid to large-sized law firms
  • JD from a well-regarded law school with solid academic transcripts
  • Background in antitrust litigation or experience within an antitrust department is a plus
  • Familiarity with legal systems such as Practice Panther, Tabs 3, and NetDocs is preferred
  • Business development interest or partnership aspirations is a bonus
