This role will own the maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and customer support for world-class water-quality instrumentation used across power, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and municipal water systems. This role blends hands-on technical work with real autonomy in the field: managing on-site service, solving problems in real time, and strengthening long-term customer relationships. They’re looking for a technician who thrives on travel, takes pride in precision, communicates well with customers, and knows their way around instrumentation calibration.

Field Service Instrumentation Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance on company water-quality analyzers, including disassembly, cleaning, calibration, and sensor replacement
  • Troubleshoot both company and third-party instrumentation at customer facilities
  • Conduct installs and verify correct integration with customer PLC/SCADA systems
  • Provide on-site customer training and ensure equipment is optimized for performance
  • Manage weekly service schedules and communicate arrival times directly with customers
  • Complete detailed service reports, typically at the end of weekly travel
  • Maintain accurate travel logs and expense reporting
  • Support sales opportunities by identifying service contract needs
  • Represent Swan professionally and deliver high-quality customer experience
  • Travel throughout Texas, primarily 1–3 hours from Austin, averaging 10–15 overnights per month

Field Service Instrumentation Technician Requirements:

  • 1+ year of field experience in a technical or service-based role
  • 2+ years of customer-facing experience
  • Instrumentation calibration experience is required regardless of industry
  • 2 – 5 years of calibration
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or analytical systems
  • Comfortable with frequent travel, solo work, and independent scheduling
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and customer service presence
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a drug test, which includes marijuana, and a background check
  • Degree not required, experience is prioritized

Benefits:

  • Commission opportunities:
  • Health benefits with employee-only premiums as low as $0
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous PTO + 9 paid holidays
  • Company phone
  • Mileage reimbursement at $0.70/mile (pre-tax) or use of rental cars, depending on travel
  • Hotels, flights, gas, and daily expenses covered by company card

If you love technical fieldwork, thrive on solving problems face-to-face with customers, and want to grow inside a stable, fast-expanding company whose technology leads the industry, we want to meet you! Apply now! #LI-CG1
