Job Description
A U.S.-based arm of an international company focused on keeping water systems running clean, efficient, and in compliance is expanding its Austin footprint and hiring a Field Service Instrumentation Technician. This role will own the maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and customer support for world-class water-quality instrumentation used across power, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and municipal water systems. This role blends hands-on technical work with real autonomy in the field: managing on-site service, solving problems in real time, and strengthening long-term customer relationships. They’re looking for a technician who thrives on travel, takes pride in precision, communicates well with customers, and knows their way around instrumentation calibration.
Field Service Instrumentation Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on company water-quality analyzers, including disassembly, cleaning, calibration, and sensor replacement
- Troubleshoot both company and third-party instrumentation at customer facilities
- Conduct installs and verify correct integration with customer PLC/SCADA systems
- Provide on-site customer training and ensure equipment is optimized for performance
- Manage weekly service schedules and communicate arrival times directly with customers
- Complete detailed service reports, typically at the end of weekly travel
- Maintain accurate travel logs and expense reporting
- Support sales opportunities by identifying service contract needs
- Represent Swan professionally and deliver high-quality customer experience
- Travel throughout Texas, primarily 1–3 hours from Austin, averaging 10–15 overnights per month
Field Service Instrumentation Technician Requirements:
- 1+ year of field experience in a technical or service-based role
- 2+ years of customer-facing experience
- Instrumentation calibration experience is required regardless of industry
- 2 – 5 years of calibration
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or analytical systems
- Comfortable with frequent travel, solo work, and independent scheduling
- Strong communication, professionalism, and customer service presence
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a drug test, which includes marijuana, and a background check
- Degree not required, experience is prioritized
