Job Description

A leader in landfill gas-to-energy and renewable natural gas is hiring an Operations Technician for its Troop, PA facility. This role owns the day-to-day health of the plant by monitoring equipment, running the control room, troubleshooting issues, and performing preventative maintenance to keep the site safe, efficient, and compliant. You’ll split your time between the control room and the plant floor, working on mechanical and electrical systems, and occasionally supporting other Archaea sites during projects, turnarounds, or critical events. This is the right role for a hands-on, mechanically and electrically savvy technician who isn’t afraid of a 4-on / 4-off rotating shift, likes getting their hands dirty, and takes pride in keeping complex systems running flawlessly.

Operations Technician Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily operations of the landfill gas-to-energy plant to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance.
  • Operate control room systems, including SCADA, PLC, and HMI interfaces, to oversee and adjust plant processes.
  • Perform routine plant rounds, visual inspections, and data logging on equipment, systems, and performance trends.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, blowers, motors, valves, and associated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, malfunctions, and alarms in real time, escalating as needed.
  • Perform basic electrical work using meters and testing devices, and support work on low-voltage control systems
  • Safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and man lifts to access equipment throughout the facility and grounds.
  • Complete required documentation, including maintenance records, work orders, inventory tracking, and regulatory/compliance logs.
  • Support special projects, media changes, outages, and turnarounds at the De Soto plant and occasionally at other sites.
  • Follow all environmental, health, and safety standards, including lockout/tagout and hazardous waste handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment in the plant, control room, and common areas.

Operations Technician Requirements:

  •  1 – 3+ years in industrial maintenance, landfill gas processing, power plant operations, chemical/industrial gas operations, or a similar heavy industrial environment.
  • Blend of mechanical, electrical, and process control experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, meters, and 24V control systems; comfort in an industrial control room.
  • Experience with SCADA/PLC/HMI or other process control systems is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, technical manuals, and procedure documents.
  • Comfortable using computers for reporting and monitoring.
  • Comfortable working 12-hour rotating day and night shifts on a 4-on / 4-off schedule, including weekends.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Safety-focused, reliable, and willing to get hands-on in an industrial, landfill-adjacent environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the discipline to complete logs, documentation, and compliance tasks accurately.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass an extensive background check, physical, hearing test, DOT drug test, and hair follicle testing.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to other Archaea locations for projects, outages, or support.
  • Experience will be considered over formal degrees for the right mechanically and electrically strong candidate.

Benefits:

  • Built-in OT: Approx. 400 hours of overtime annually at time-and-a-half.
  • Total Target Comp: Around $85,000+ annually with OT and average bonus, before raises.
  • Quarterly Momentum Bonus:
  • 401(k) with company contribution
  • Comprehensive Medical Coverage
  • Generous PTO

If you’re the type who shows up, solves problems, and takes pride in keeping complex systems running, this is your seat. Apply now! #LI-DB1
