A national leader in employment and labor law is hiring a Junior Employment Litigation Associate for its Portland office to support a fast-growing labor and employment defense practice. This attorney will work closely with multiple partners across a diverse caseload, gaining hands-on litigation experience from early strategy through resolution. You’ll draft pleadings and motions, support depositions, and help manage discovery while building courtroom and client-facing confidence. Junior Employment Litigation Associate Responsibilities:

  • Draft and respond to discovery requests, pleadings, and motions
  • Assist with taking and defending depositions, or prepare senior attorneys for depositions
  • Conduct legal research and prepare briefs, memoranda, and persuasive advocacy materials
  • Support case strategy development and participate in hearings, mediation, and negotiations
  • Collaborate with multiple partners on a variety of employment litigation matters
  • Manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Junior Employment Litigation Associate Requirements:

  • 1 – 3 years of employment litigation experience preferred
  • Open to candidates with strong litigation skills from other practice areas
  • Experience defending depositions is a plus
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong writing and analytical skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail
  • Admitted to the Oregon State Bar
  • Proactive self-starter with strong initiative and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Stable work history and commitment to growth in employment law
