A well-established behavioral health organization serving diverse communities across New York City is seeking a Front Desk Receptionist to deliver exceptional patient experience and support smooth daily clinic operations. This role is the first point of contact for patients, families, and clinicians. The Front Desk Receptionist sets the tone for care, safety, and compassion. Salary Range: $50,000 / Year
Front Desk Receptionist Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients with professionalism, warmth, and efficiency
- Open or close clinic depending on shift assignment
- Manage patient intake, documentation, and consent forms within the electronic health record system
- Notify clinicians of patient arrivals and coordinate appointment flow
- Handle appointment scheduling, follow-ups, and reminder calls
- Distribute metro cards to eligible patients and maintain accurate records
- Assist with patient check-out and payment processing when needed
- Support a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk environment
- Communicate proactively with leadership to resolve issues quickly
Front Desk Receptionist Requirements:
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- 1+ year experience in customer service or receptionist role
- Prior experience in a medical, dental, mental health, or legal setting
- HIPAA and confidentiality knowledge required
- High school diploma required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust quickly with diverse populations
- Professional, approachable, and reliable
- Ability to stay self-motivated during slower in-person traffic periods
- Comfortable learning technology and using EHR/CRM systems
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in behavioral health services preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred
