Job Description
A rapidly growing, client-centered law firm is seeking an experienced and organized Senior Family Law Paralegal to join its collaborative remote California team. This role will provide direct support to a group of attorneys handling high-volume family law matters and will be integral to managing case preparation, filings, and client communication. The paralegal will handle complex case management tasks. From drafting and filing court documents to organizing discovery and coordinating deadlines, they will assist during each stage while maintaining a strong client service mindset. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure, with extensive California family law experience and the ability to manage competing priorities with confidence and grace.
Salary Range: $35 – $50 / Hour DOE
Senior Family Law Paralegal Responsibilities:
- Support 4 attorneys in the Family Law department on all aspects of case management
- Manage a caseload of 30–40 family law matters with minimal supervision
- Draft, proof, and file pleadings, declarations, and discovery documents
- Prepare shells of motions, including memorandums of points and authorities
- Maintain court calendars, deadlines, and task lists in MyCase and RingCentral
- Conduct legal research and assist in trial preparation when needed
- Handle client communications with professionalism and empathy, especially in sensitive family law matters
- Track and record billable hours accurately and consistently
- Collaborate with attorneys and team members to maintain workflow efficiency and document accuracy
Senior Family Law Paralegal Requirements:
- 5+ years of recent experience as a Family Law Paralegal in California
- Proven ability to bill at least 30 hours per week
- Strong knowledge of California Family Law procedures, local rules, and court filing requirements
- Proficiency in MyCase, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Tech-savvy with a strong command of legal technology and document management systems
- Self-starter who thrives in a remote environment while staying collaborative and accountable
- Experience working with Santa Clara County courts preferred
- Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution preferred
- Trial preparation experience preferred
- Basic Mandarin proficiency a plus
