A leading manufacturer of specialty industrial chemicals and process solutions serving clients in automotive, defense, metal finishing, and manufacturing is looking for a Technical Sales Representative to service Michigan. From cleaners and lubricants to conversion coatings and custom-engineered chemistries, their solutions help customers enhance performance, reduce costs, and achieve environmental compliance. The Technical Sales Representative will develop and manage business across Michigan, combining technical knowledge with a hunter’s mindset to drive growth. This role involves both maintaining an existing book of business and expanding market share through proactive outreach, on-site plant visits, and solution-based selling. The right candidate is a self-motivated, hands-on sales professional who thrives on independence, technical problem-solving, and building relationships within manufacturing environments.

Technical Sales Representative Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow an existing client base while developing new business opportunities across Michigan
  • Conduct cold calls, site visits, and plant walkthroughs to evaluate production processes and recommend customized chemical solutions
  • Present and sell industrial cleaners, coatings, lubricants, and water treatment products to manufacturing clients
  • Partner with the technical and engineering teams to design solutions that improve cost, efficiency, and performance for customers
  • Prepare and deliver quotes and proposals based on process surveys and client needs
  • Maintain accurate records of opportunities, forecasts, and activities within CRM and reporting systems
  • Build and sustain strong client relationships through follow-up, technical support, and ongoing communication
  • Attend industry trade shows and events to represent the company professionally and expand market reach

Technical Sales Representative Requirements:

  • 3 – 5 years of sales experience in industrial chemicals, manufacturing, or technical B2B environments
  • Proven track record of success in consultative, solution-based selling
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes, pretreatment systems, and metal finishing applications
  • Comfortable in industrial settings
  • Highly self-driven and organized, with excellent communication and follow-up skills
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Engineering, or Business preferred
  • Background in chemical sales, process control, or surface finishing preferred
