Fuel moves the modern world, and the engineering firm keeping that world running safely is seeking a skilled Technical Project Manager to oversee its Fuel Systems projects. The Technical Project Manager leads high-stakes fuel system projects from underground storage tanks to industrial fuel handling and mission-critical monitoring systems, ensuring compliance, precision, and zero-downtime execution. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and rooted in technical leadership. They’re looking for a proactive problem solver who understands how to build and maintain fuel infrastructure. Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 / Year DOE

Fuel Systems Technical Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead turnkey fuel system projects from planning through commissioning and closeout
  • Verify system designs: tanks, pumps, piping, filtration, dispensers, controls
  • Conduct onsite visits for quality checks, milestone verification, and issue resolution
  • Manage permitting, compliance documentation, and regulatory priorities
  • Interpret P&IDs, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate installation
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software system issues
  • Oversee testing, calibration, and commissioning activities
  • Create and maintain project schedules with labor and equipment plans
  • Monitor progress, change orders, daily reports, and productivity metrics
  • Work with purchasing to source pumps, controls, sensors, piping, and fittings
  • Validate structural and material submittals to meet NFPA, EPA, UL, and API compliance
  • Maintain RFIs, MOPs, JHAs, and closeout packages
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients and stakeholders
  • Track budgets, cost exposure, and revenue forecasting
  • Enforce safety standards and site compliance

Fuel Systems Technical Project Manager Requirements:

  • 2+ years of technical project management experience involving fuel systems
  • Deep working knowledge of tank systems, pumps, valves, piping, and leak detection
  • Ability to read and apply engineering drawings, P&IDs, and system schematics
  • Proven success leading site crews, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Strong cost control and scheduling skills
  • Self-driven, resourceful, and comfortable with real-time field decisions
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred
  • Familiarity with NFPA 30, API, UL, PEI RP1200, EPA fuel regulations preferred
  • Estimating experience preferred
