A fast-growing design-built pool construction company headquartered in Springfield, VA, is hiring a Project Accountant to manage all project-specific financial operations. This is a hands-on accounting role responsible for sales tax filings, project-based accounting, licensing compliance, and insurance audits across multiple active job sites. The ideal candidate is a detail-driven, tech-savvy accountant who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment. They understand how to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensure accuracy in every transaction, and build trust through reliability and consistency.

Project Accountant Responsibilities:

• Manage project-specific accounting using QuickBooks
• Handle sales tax filings and maintain business licenses across multiple counties and jurisdictions
• Assist with insurance audits, preparing reports and documentation as requested
• Support general accounting tasks beyond project-specific work
• Track project financials, close out jobs, and ensure accurate cost allocation
• Maintain compliance with tax and business regulations across project locations
• Collaborate with leadership to improve accounting workflows and reporting accuracy
• Provide clear, timely financial updates on project budgets and expenditures
• Assist with payroll coordination and reporting as needed

Project Accountant Requirements:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
• 3 – 5 years of accounting experience, including project-level work
• Proficient in QuickBooks
• Knowledge of sales tax filings, business licenses, and compliance reporting
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and cost control
• Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
• Ability to handle multiple deadlines and jurisdictions with precision
• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
