Job Description

Position Title: Operations Technician

The Operations Technician role in Skull Valley, UT, is essential for the effective operation and maintenance of the landfill gas-to-energy plant. This position involves monitoring equipment, troubleshooting issues, and performing preventative maintenance to ensure compliance with regulations. The technician will also support special projects and respond to critical events at various Archaea sites. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently in a remote location. Candidates should be prepared for periods of on-call duties, including nights and weekends, which can be challenging but rewarding in terms of professional growth.

Operations Technician Responsibilities:

  • Complete environmental and safety paperwork
  • Perform operator rounds twice daily; check all equipment
  • Maintain winter freeze logs; address freeze-ups
  • Troubleshoot and repair common issues
  • Maintain and repair pumps, valves, instrumentation, and related equipment
  • Use diagnostic tools and site diagnostics
  • Support scheduled maintenance and handle unscheduled repairs
  • Participate in rotating on-call duties; respond to call-outs

Operations Technician Requirements:

  • Reside within a 1-hour commute of site
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude; basic electrical knowledge is a plus
  • Trainable and able to learn broad operational tasks
  • Comfortable with on-call rotation and occasional nights/weekends
  • Clean driving record sufficient to pass MVR for safety-sensitive role
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, heavy lifting, and basic rigging
  • Willingness to work extended hours during commissioning
  • Experience from automotive, pipelines, refinery, mining/metals, I&E, or military operations is preferred
  • Experience with pumps, valves, instrumentation, tubing/fittings/gauges is preferred
  • Use of diagnostic tools (multimeters); basic torque/hand tools knowledge is preferred
