Job Description

Position Title: Special Events Director

The Special Events Director plays a crucial role in planning and executing major fundraising events, engaging community stakeholders, and representing the organization in public settings. This position involves collaborating with C-suite executives and medical professionals to establish committees focused on fundraising initiatives. The director will be responsible for overseeing 3-4 major events annually, ensuring they are memorable for donors and attendees. A key challenge includes understanding the organization’s mission and effectively communicating its impact. The ideal candidate will possess creativity and strong organizational skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Special Events Director Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute 3-4 major events annually, including the Distinguished Citizen event and other fundraising initiatives
  • Engage with community members to identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors
  • Work with executives and medical professionals to assemble committees for fundraising efforts
  • Oversee donor engagement and cultivation for a portfolio of 50-75 annual donors
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection and decor
  • Serve as staff advisor for special event committees
  • Attend board meetings and networking events as required

Special Events Director Requirements:

  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate fundraising ideas
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in event planning or fundraising
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Non-profit experience is preferred
