Job Description
The Outside Sales Representative plays a crucial role in driving new business for the organization. This position entails engaging with potential customers through various outreach methods, including cold calling, warm calling, and in-person visits. The representative will assess customer needs by gathering technical specifications and collaborating with the internal sales team to facilitate quoting and project management. Closing sales by presenting quotes and proposals is a key responsibility, requiring effective communication and customer service skills. The role demands flexibility in working hours to accommodate customer meetings throughout Arizona. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth of a new division within the company.
Outside Sales Representative Responsibilities:
- Conducting cold calls, warm calls, and in-person visits to generate leads
- Identifying new opportunities in target markets such as multifamily, healthcare, and education
- Gathering technical specifications from customers to understand their security needs
- Providing customer information to the internal sales team for quoting
- Presenting quotes and proposals to customers
- Maintaining relationships with assigned customers as their primary point of contact
- Collaborating with the internal sales and technical teams
Outside Sales Representative Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in a security or security-adjacent industry
- Baseline technical knowledge of security products and installation requirements
- Ability to effectively prospect, cold call, and generate new leads
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to travel throughout the state of Arizona to meet with customers
- Reliable personal vehicle for transportation (with $500/month allowance)
- Ability to work collaboratively with the internal sales and technical team
Outside Sales Representative Preferred Skills
- 5+ years of experience in the security/access control industry preferred
- Existing relationships or experience in the target markets preferred
- Familiarity with Kelley Bros’ specific product lines and solutions preferred
- Experience in presenting proposals and closing sales with commercial customers preferred
- Comfort working in a non-commission, profit-sharing-based compensation structure preferred
- Entrepreneurial mindset and drive to grow the business preferred
- Existing network of contacts and leads in the Arizona market preferred
