Job Description
This position plays a pivotal leadership role in advancing a significant copper project in Nevada through the complete permitting lifecycle. The ideal candidate will value strategic influence, autonomy, and cross-functional collaboration while having the opportunity to shape a meaningful critical-minerals development. The Environmental & Permitting Manager will oversee environmental compliance, mine-permitting activities, and coordination with various state, federal, and local agencies. This role is essential for guiding permitting strategy and ensuring timely and compliant project execution. Candidates should be prepared to learn and adapt quickly to the project’s regulatory landscape and stakeholders.
Manager – Permitting & Environment Responsibilities:
- Lead environmental permitting, NEPA documentation, and baseline environmental studies
- Coordinate with BLM, NDEP, USFWS, NDOW, and local agencies
- Direct preparation of Mine Plan of Operations, EIS documents, and state permits
- Oversee monitoring, reporting, and environmental-mitigation compliance
- Manage environmental consultants and multi-disciplinary technical teams
- Participate in stakeholder engagement and public-comment processes
- Integrate permitting strategy with engineering, schedule, and cost planning
Manager – Permitting & Environment Requirements:
- 8+ years of environmental compliance and permitting experience in mining in Nevada
- Demonstrated experience with Nevada mine-permitting
- Experience managing NEPA EAs and EISs
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder-engagement skills
- Hungry, motivated, and eager to learn and grow
- Comfortable adopting emerging technologies and analytical tools to improve accuracy and operational efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field – highly preferred
- Experience leading consultant teams under complex permitting frameworks is preferred
- Background in reclamation, water quality, air quality, wildlife, and closure planning is preferred
- Experience with copper or large-scale base-metal mining projects is preferred
- Manager experience preferred
