Job Description
The Plant Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the comprehensive manufacturing processes at the company’s bottling plant. This position is integral to ensuring daily production efficiency, maintaining quality and safety standards, and optimizing labor and asset utilization across various packaging formats. The individual will be expected to actively engage on the production floor, driving urgency and upholding operational standards to achieve company objectives. The role demands a hands-on approach to leadership, where accountability and execution are paramount. The Plant Manager will also be responsible for addressing operational challenges and facilitating communication with executive management, ensuring alignment with production goals and financial targets.
Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 / Year DOE
Plant Manager Responsibilities
- Own daily, weekly, and monthly production plans
- Deliver committed case output by SKU, format, and customer
- Ensure each line operates to defined rate, yield, and uptime targets
- Establish and enforce clear daily schedules for every line
- Maintain a forward-looking production schedule
- Coordinate materials, labor, and equipment availability
- Eliminate preventable downtime due to planning failures
- Own GMP compliance and audit readiness
- Enforce in-process quality checks and corrective actions
- Reduce complaints, rework, and holds
- Manage supervisors, maintenance, and line leads
- Set expectations and address underperformance promptly
- Execute preventive maintenance and reduce breakdowns
- Improve changeover discipline and equipment readiness
- Enforce safety rules and OSHA compliance
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
- Control labor hours, scrap, rework, and yield losses
- Schedule labor and production
- Stop production for quality or safety issues
- Recommend discipline, promotions, or terminations
- Escalate unresolved issues to the President
Plant Manager Requirements
- 7-10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
- Proven record of running a schedule
- Experience with packaging lines and changeovers
- Strong GMP and audit background
- Comfortable leading hourly and salaried teams
- Comfortable bringing up issues and informing executive management
- Decisive with direct communication
- Must have a high level of accountability and be execution focused
- Beverage bottling experience preferred
- ERP / production tracking systems preferred
- Lean / Six Sigma background preferred
- Experience integrating new equipment preferred
- Degree of any kind preferred
