Job Description
Position Title: Junior Associate Attorney
Build real litigation skills, work directly with clients, and learn from experienced trial attorneys who will invest in your development. A plaintiff-focused litigation firm is seeking a Junior Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of legal experience to join its collaborative practice. This role offers hands-on exposure across personal injury matters, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediations, hearings, client communication, and trial preparation.
This is an opportunity for an attorney who wants to do more than manage files. The ideal candidate is driven, personable, and coachable with strong research and writing skills, a genuine desire to learn, and the confidence to take initiative in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Salary Range: $125,000 – $145,000 / Year, DOE
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, legal correspondence, and meet-and-confer letters
- Conduct legal research and prepare clear, well-supported memoranda
- Work directly with clients throughout the lifecycle of their cases
- Review medical records, expert reports, and other case-related documentation
- Participate in depositions, mediations, court hearings and settlement conferences
- Communicate professionally with clients, experts, witnesses, adjusters and opposing counsel
- Manage assigned matters with guidance and mentorship from experienced attorneys
- Assist with trial preparation and provide support throughout litigation
- Gain increasing ownership of cases as skills, experience, and confidence develop
Requirements
- JD from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar license in good standing
- 1–3 years of legal experience preferred
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
- Litigation experience highly preferred but not required
- Ability to take direction, accept feedback, and apply it effectively
- Comfortable learning and incorporating AI-enabled legal technology into workflows
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Driven, accountable, and willing to take ownership of responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Personal injury or plaintiff-side litigation experience
- Civil litigation or insurance defense experience
- Criminal law or another litigation-focused practice area
- Familiarity with legal research, case management, and AI-assisted legal tools
- Experience communicating directly with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties
