Job Description

A global leader in automotive technologyis hiring a CNC Service Engineer to install, commission, and support high-precision CNC lathes and large milling equipment for major industrial clients, including the U.S. Navy. You’ll spend more than half your time on the road, working directly with customers and factory engineers to get complex machines up and running, train operators, and ensure performance to micron-level accuracy. They’re looking for a technically sharp, travel-ready engineer who knows Fanuc controls, respects the craft, and shows up with humility and professionalism.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $115,000 / Year DOE

CNC Service Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Install and commission CNC machines at customer sites across the Midwest and beyond
  • Service primarily horizontal and vertical lathes, with exposure to large milling and 5-axis machining centers
  • Perform machine setup, alignment, and verification to micron-level tolerances
  • Read gauges, digital levels, and precision measurement tools accurately
  • Support customers during installation timelines ranging from a few days to multi-week projects
  • Collaborate with factory and manufacturer engineers to learn and deploy specialized equipment
  • Train customer operators on safe operation, startup/shutdown, and emergency procedures
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues as needed
  • Travel 50%+ of the time, including occasional long-distance trips

CNC Service Engineer Requirements:

  • Hands-on CNC machine installation experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Fanuc controls
  • Ability to read measurements and tolerances down to the micron level
  • Experience using digital levels and precision gauges
  • Working knowledge of basic G-code for setup and troubleshooting
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively
  • Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport and access military bases
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and international factory engineers
  • Experience installing large lathes or heavy CNC equipment preferred
  • Electrical or controls troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Background working in aerospace, defense, or heavy industrial environments preferred
