A leading steam producer is seeking a Plant Operator to join its operations team in Vermont. This role is responsible for monitoring and maintaining plant equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and supporting maintenance activities as needed. The Plant Operator will spend their shift on-site, inspecting and troubleshooting systems such as conveyors, silos, raw feed material, fuel & ash handling equipment, and boilers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to stay focused and motivated during long shifts while ensuring reliable plant performance.
Plant Operator Responsibilities:
- Patrol the plant to observe equipment performance and identify potential issues Inspect and service conveyors, silos, augers, bins, and related material handling systems
- Perform routine water quality testing and make boiler system adjustments as needed
- Assist maintenance teams with equipment inspections and repairs during scheduled and unscheduled downtime
- Clean and maintain ash handling equipment and other operational systems
- Troubleshoot plant processes to support safe, efficient, and compliant operations
- Contribute during planned outage periods, which may include longer shifts to meet reliability goals
- Coordinate with control room operators and other team members to ensure smooth plant operations
Plant Operator Requirements:
- At least 1 year of plant operations experience, ideally on a facility that produces steam.
- Prior experience with boiler water testing and treatment is preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts with overtime as needed
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to identify and address plant issues
- Must successfully complete pre-employment screening
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; relevant experience may substitute for formal education
