A prestigious law firm is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Legal Billing Specialist to join its Chicago office. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely, and client-compliant legal billing across a wide variety of legal matters. The ideal candidate has prior law firm billing experience, strong Excel proficiency, and thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Salary Range: $60,000 – $75,000 / year DOE

Legal Billing Specialist Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and process client invoices in accordance with attorney preferences and client billing guidelines
• Collaborate closely with attorneys and legal staff to ensure billing accuracy and resolve discrepancies
• Submit bills via electronic billing platforms
• Update and maintain billing records and client information
• Monitor billing cycles and ensure timely distribution of bills
• Respond to billing-related inquiries from attorneys and clients in a professional, timely manner
• Generate billing reports and support audits or internal reviews as needed
• Ensure strict compliance with firm billing policies and procedures

Legal Billing Specialist Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of billing experience in a law firm setting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with Elite 3E billing software
• Experience with LEDES billing and e-billing platforms is a plus
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
