Job Description
A well-established, customer-focused flooring retailer is hiring a Director of Stores. This is a field-driven leadership role for a proven operator who knows how to scale multi-location retail and win through execution. The Director of Stores will own performance across 30+ showrooms, ensuring sales goals are met, teams are staffed and motivated, and every location is dialed in for growth. This leader will spend significant time in the field, set clear expectations, build a strong leadership bench, and partner closely with executive leadership to support aggressive expansion across California, Reno, and future markets. They are looking for a sharp, high-energy, Type-A leader with deep flooring or home improvement experience who thrives in fast-paced environments, pushes teams across the finish line, and takes full ownership of results.
Salary Range: $150,000 – $155,000 / Year DOE
Director of Stores Responsibilities:
- Lead and optimize performance across 30+ retail store locations with a strong, visible field presence
- Drive showroom execution, sales plans, payroll efficiency, and customer experience standards
- Own store-level performance metrics, including sales targets and labor management tied to incentive plans
- Recruit, develop, and motivate high-performing store leaders and sales teams
- Build succession plans and a scalable leadership bench to support rapid store growth
- Oversee training initiatives and ensure consistent execution across all locations
- Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to open new locations and integrate acquisitions
- Maintain high morale, accountability, and a winning, performance-driven culture
- Travel regularly to support stores, with travel increasing as new markets are added
Director of Stores Requirements:
- 7+ years of multi-location retail leadership experience
- Proven success leading high-volume retail stores and hitting aggressive sales goals
- Strong background in recruiting, developing, and retaining top-tier retail talent
- Decisive, accountable leader who moves fast and pushes initiatives to completion
- Hands-on, field-first leadership>Comfortable with frequent travel and working from the field
- Experience with operational systems
- No degree required; experience and results matter most
