Job Description
A leading HVAC and plumbing manufacturer’s representative in Southeast Texas is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Estimator to join their team. This newly created role will be instrumental in building out the estimating department, standardizing bid workflows, and working directly with sales, project management, and manufacturing partners. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for commercial HVAC and plumbing projects. They are looking for a highly organized, deadline-driven individual with strong communication skills, commercial HVAC/plumbing experience, and a passion for process improvement.
Estimator Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specs, and related documents to prepare accurate cost estimates
- Perform detailed HVAC/plumbing material, labor, and equipment takeoffs
- Collaborate with sales, PMs, engineers, and vendors to prepare complete bid packages
- Create and implement standard operating procedures for estimating and bidding
- Manage and track multiple estimates and timelines concurrently
- Solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotes and maintain cost databases
- Assist in project handoffs by documenting scope and cost breakdowns
- Attend job walks and pre-bid meetings as needed
- Support the transition to new ERP/estimating systems and tools
Estimator Requirements:
- 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial HVAC and/or plumbing
- Proficient in Bluebeam
- Familiarity with other estimating tools is a plus
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to learn and work with new software
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred
- Ability to manage competing priorities and communicate clearly with various teams
- Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to work independently
- Experience setting up processes or building out new functions is highly valued
- Experience with Trimble, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, or equivalent is a plus
- Prior experience building or leading an estimating function is preferred
