Job Description

A prominent Irvine-based law firm is seeking a highly motivated Litigation Associate with at least 4 years of experience in complex business and commercial litigation. This role offers the opportunity to manage high-stakes cases from inception to resolution, including motion practice, depositions, discovery, client strategy, and trial preparation. The associate will work closely with seasoned litigators, paralegals, and firm leadership while building deep expertise and strong client relationships. Salary Range: $140,000 – $180,000 / year DOE

Litigation Associate Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of complex litigation, from client consultation through final resolution
  • Draft, review, and argue motions
  • Conduct and defend depositions; coordinate expert discovery
  • Handle court appearances and trial preparation
  • Lead discovery, including drafting/responding to interrogatories, RFPs, subpoenas
  • Prepare thorough legal research, memos, pleadings, and briefs
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and execute litigation strategy
  • Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations
  • Maintain case calendars, deadlines, and related budgets with minimal supervision
  • Work closely with paralegals and senior attorneys on large-scale matters
  • Participate in firm-sponsored pro bono initiatives

Litigation Associate Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in business and commercial litigation
  • Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing
  • Strong experience with trials, motion practice, and managing complex disputes
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with minimal oversight
  • Exceptional communication skills for client and team collaboration
  • Experience handling high-value or bet-the-business litigation is a plus
  • Comfortable mentoring junior attorneys and working cross-functionally
