Job Description

A boutique business law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area, is seeking a skilled and proactive Legal Litigation Assistant to support its busy litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented legal administrative professional with 3–5 years of civil litigation experience. The role involves supporting attorneys in all phases of litigation, from drafting legal documents and managing discovery to trial preparation and court filings. The ideal candidate is collaborative, responsive, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-integrity environment.

Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000 / year DOE

Legal Litigation Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Draft and file motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents in state and federal courts
  • Conduct court filings, including e-filings using PACER and ECF
  • Assist with discovery processes: manage document production, review, and e-discovery tools
  • Maintain case calendars, deadlines, and appointments for litigation teams
  • Prepare law and motion filings with accurate tables of contents and authorities
  • Support attorneys in trial preparation, including exhibit and deposition management
  • Provide administrative support: manage client intake, answer phones, and handle general office duties
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to manage large case files and litigation timelines
  • Utilize legal management systems and e-discovery platforms
  • Foster professional, trustworthy relationships with clients and colleagues

Legal Litigation Assistant Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of civil litigation experience
  • Strong knowledge of Code of Civil Procedure, federal and state court rules
  • Proficiency in court filing requirements and procedures
  • Experience using PACER, ECF, and legal case management systems
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficiency formatting legal documents and generating TOCs/TOAs
  • Excellent time management, communication, and multitasking abilities
  • High attention to detail, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Familiarity with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and trial prep preferred
  • Paralegal certificate or Notary certification is a plus
