Job Description
A well-established and collaborative California-based law firm is seeking a skilled Legal Assistant to join its Los Angeles team. This hybrid role will support a busy litigation practice with a focus on Labor & Employment matters while also playing a vital role in providing light IT support related to legal software and eDiscovery tools. The ideal candidate will be tech-comfortable, highly organized, and have a deep knowledge of court filing procedures. They are looking for a proactive, detail-driven professional who enjoys variety in their day and thrives in a supportive, mid-sized firm culture.
Salary Range: $95,000 – $115,000 / year DOE
Legal Assistant Responsibilities:
- Draft, format, proofread, and finalize legal documents including pleadings, tables of contents and authorities, and judicial forms
- E-file documents in federal, state, and appellate courts, ensuring adherence to court-specific rules and deadlines
- Maintain attorney calendars including court dates, deadlines, and hearings using CompuLaw or similar tools
- Organize and manage case files and legal correspondence through document management systems such as iManage
- Provide basic IT troubleshooting to attorneys and staff, including support with connectivity issues, printing, and general software or hardware problems
- Support the use and training of legal tech platforms like Best Authority, CCC Macros, and assist with firm-wide eDiscovery adoption efforts
- Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and court personnel, ensuring timely communication and follow-through
- Track and maintain billable hours to meet the firm’s 1550-hour annual requirement
Legal Assistant Requirements:
- High school diploma required
- 7+ years of experience as a litigation legal assistant in Labor & Employment law
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and appellate court rules and e-filing procedures
- Demonstrated expertise preparing judicial forms, tables of contents and authorities
- Excellent attention to detail with strong proofreading, formatting, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word (2010+), Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and familiarity with iManage or similar DMS
- Ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues and support software onboarding for staff
- Bachelor’s degree and experience with CompuLaw, Best Authority, or CCC Macros are a plus
