Job Description

A litigation firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Of Counsel with at least 4 years of insurance coverage experience to join their growing team. This attorney will play a key role in managing a diverse caseload involving complex insurance disputes, representing insurers in first-party claims and policy interpretation litigation. The position offers flexibility in work setup (remote, hybrid, or in-office) and the opportunity to take on meaningful case work from day one.

They are looking for a personable, self-starting professional who is confident in handling depositions, discovery, and legal strategy independently, and thrives in a collegial, fast-paced, and team-driven environment. Candidates must be licensed in Texas and possess strong communication skills.

Of Counsel Responsibilities:

  • Handle first-party insurance coverage litigation and disputes involving policy interpretation and obligations
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare motions
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including depositions
  • Support or lead hearings, trial preparation, and client communications
  • Collaborate with firm partners and provide status updates and strategy insights
  • Work on a variety of other litigation and business law matters as needed

Of Counsel Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in insurance coverage litigation
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Texas Bar
  • Demonstrated ability to handle discovery and depositions
  • Excellent writing, research, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Familiarity with CenterBase or similar DMS is a plus
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • A strong cultural fit—personable, collaborative, and committed to legal excellence
