Job Description
A booming supply chain company is seeking a driven and personable Outside Sales Representative to join their New York City team. This role focuses on building strong relationships with architectural firms, promoting their high-quality masonry and exterior products, and securing product specifications on upcoming projects. The ideal candidate is a dynamic self-starter who understands the NYC market, has strong presentation skills, and is eager to grow a long-term, lucrative career in architectural sales.
Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 / year DOE
Outside Sales Representative Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with assigned architectural firms
- Present product offerings through “Lunch & Learn” presentations and one-on-one meetings
- Generate new business leads through Dodge Reports, cold calling, and existing relationships
- Manage the sales process from specification to quoting, ensuring project success and client satisfaction
- Prepare and deliver impactful presentations to groups of architects
- Collaborate with sales assistants for lead generation and quote preparation
- Maintain detailed client records and project tracking using proprietary software and Microsoft Suite
- Build and manage a diverse project pipeline, from small-scale to multimillion-dollar projects
- Meet regularly with internal teams and leadership to review sales performance and strategies
Outside Sales Representative Requirements:
- 5+ years of successful outside sales experience, preferably in construction or building materials
- 1-2 years of experience working directly with architecture firms on product specifications
- Strong knowledge of the NYC market and willingness to work onsite in Manhattan 5 days per week
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and relationship-building abilities
- Must have or be willing to develop a strong network of architects in NYC
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required based on experience
- Prior experience in building materials or masonry product sales is a plus
