A trusted name in custom architectural and metal fabrication is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their team in Brooklyn, NY. In this hands-on role, you’ll manage day-to-day purchasing operations, working closely with the accounting and production teams to source materials, handle inventory, and ensure timely order fulfillment. You’ll be involved in everything from negotiating with vendors to processing purchase orders and monitoring inventory.

They are looking for someone local, detail-oriented, and proactive—someone who enjoys being the go-to person for purchasing in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can work independently without constant oversight.

Salary Range: $65,000 – $80,000 / year DOE

Purchasing Manager Responsibilities:

• Process purchase orders daily for materials, supplies, and equipment
• Source and request quotes from vendors and suppliers for customer jobs
• Approve invoices and submit to accounting after verifying with received goods
• Manage inventory tracking and in-house adjustments
• Ensure smooth receiving operations and match paperwork to physical inventory
• Research and locate hard-to-find materials, especially metals and sheet materials
• Communicate with vendors, internal departments, and leadership to ensure timely procurement
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for all purchasing activity

Purchasing Manager Requirements:

• 3+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience managing purchase orders, receiving, and inventory systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills—must be comfortable talking to vendors and internal stakeholders
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage requests from multiple departments
• Must be based in or near Brooklyn and able to work onsite Monday–Friday
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a strong sense of accountability
• Experience in the metals or sheet metal industry is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field is preferred
• Familiarity with Global Shop ERP software
