A top-tier litigation defense firm with a powerful trial reputation is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney for its Lake Forest office. This role is ideal for attorneys with a strong litigation background, significant trial experience, and a passion for being in court. As an Associate, you’ll manage a caseload of civil defense cases, handle high-stakes matters, and regularly take cases to trial. Salary Range: $180,000 – $200,000 / year DOE

Associate Attorney Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of civil litigation matters, including 5+ active or trial-ready cases
• Handle all aspects of litigation: discovery, motions, depositions, settlement negotiations, and trial
• Serve as first or second chair in trials, arbitrations, and mediations
• Work directly with clients, partners, and legal support teams to develop litigation strategies
• Contribute to high-profile and fast-paced cases, including emergency trial takeovers
• Collaborate with attorneys, assistants, and junior associates in a team-based environment
• Maintain billable hours with bonus incentives for exceeding milestones

Associate Attorney Requirements:

• J.D. and active California Bar membership in good standing
• 5–8 years of experience in defense litigation
• Demonstrated first or second chair trial experience, or significant settlement exposure
• Background in insurance defense preferred
• Ability to work independently with minimal hand-holding, while remaining coachable and team-oriented
• Strong writing, advocacy, and courtroom presence
