Job Description

A growing civil earthworks construction firm is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates by interpreting blueprints, bid documents, and utilizing industry-specific software. You’ll play a key role in supporting their project teams, collaborating with vendors, and helping them win large-scale infrastructure and site development projects. This is a fully onsite role with no travel required. They are looking for a detail-oriented, tech-savvy construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is confident in their ability to handle complex estimates for major heavy civil projects.

Senior Estimator Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret drawings, blueprints, and bid documents to develop detailed cost estimates
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using both traditional and digital methods
  • Utilize HCSS software for bidding and production tracking
  • Source and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to stay current on pricing and industry trends
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Engineering teams to answer project-related inquiries
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines
  • Support the company’s strategic growth into federal and state-level projects

Senior Estimator Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of estimating experience in heavy construction
  • Proficiency with HCSS (HeavyBid) software is required
  • Strong experience with takeoffs, cost analysis, and proposal preparation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Solid understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and scheduling
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a team setting
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience using Carlson or Bluebeam software for takeoffs is a plus
  • Prior exposure to state or federal-level public works projects is preferred
  • Familiarity with AGC standards and practices
