Job Description
A specialized technology firm based in Miami, FL is seeking a Project Engineer to support the design, programming, and deployment of Audio/Visual/Lighting control systems for projects around the world. This hands-on role acts as the primary technical liaison to clients, ensuring all control and network solutions align with project scope and performance standards. Responsibilities include programming custom control systems, developing user interfaces and monitoring dashboards, conducting system testing, and providing ongoing technical support. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, inquisitive, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a passion for tackling complex, cutting-edge installations.
Project Engineer Responsibilities:
- Provide control and programming solutions for A/V/lighting system installations
- Participate in the design, development, implementation, and support of control and network systems
- Program and develop custom drivers, GUI interfaces, and monitoring dashboards
- Lead project planning, documentation, testing, scripting, and commissioning
- Analyze and manage system performance data and capabilities
- Train clients and end users on delivered systems
- Deliver ongoing technical support and maintenance post-installation
- Balance multiple project timelines while meeting technical expectations
- Work independently on assignments while maintaining strong communication with team members
- Approach challenges with a solutions-focused mindset and consistently contribute to team success
Project Engineer Requirements:
- 2 to 5 years of experience in Audio/Visual, control systems, or software development
- Proficient in control system environments including Node-RED, Q-SYS, Medialon, Alcorn McBride
- Skilled in scripting languages such as Lua, JavaScript, Node.JS, and SQL
- Familiarity with network configuration and operations including VLANs, routing, IGMP, PTP
- Experience with A/V programming tools such as Pixera, RealMotion, Disguise, or Touch Designer
- Working knowledge of user interface development including HTML and CSS
- Comfortable with Office365 tools including Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Programming, Electronics, or Entertainment Technology is preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time
- Strong communication, organization, and troubleshooting abilities
- Enjoys working on diverse, challenging, and collaborative projects
