Litigation Associate
Job Description
A prestigious boutique law firm in Burlingame, CA, is searching for a sharp and motivated Litigation Associate to join their team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sophisticated litigation, with the ability to take on significant responsibilities quickly. You will be responsible for managing a variety of litigation tasks across a diverse caseload, including drafting motions, defending depositions, and representing clients in court. Additionally, you ll collaborate with experienced attorneys, gaining valuable insights while progressively taking on more cases in a supportive and flexible environment.
Salary Range: $175,000 - $215,000 / year DOE
Litigation Associate Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- Admitted to practice law in the state of California and in good standing with the Bar
- A minimum of 5-12 years of experience in commercial litigation, with demonstrated proficiency in handling complex cases
- Proven experience in defending depositions and making court appearances, including handling motions and other procedural matters
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to handle a variety of sophisticated legal issues
- Strong ability to work independently while also being an effective team player in a collaborative environment
- Familiarity with litigation management software, such as ProLaw and Clio, is helpful but not required
Litigation Associate Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload, primarily focused on breach of contract and intellectual property disputes
- Handle all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, as well as appearing in court
- Take and defend depositions, and manage case strategy with minimal supervision
- Collaborate closely with a dedicated litigation paralegal and other team members to ensure efficient case management
- Actively participate in court proceedings, including motion hearings, and effectively represent clients interests
- Work directly with clients to provide legal advice and develop litigation strategies tailored to their needs
