Director of Fund Accounting
Job Description
An innovative real estate private equity firm is seeking a Director of Fund Accounting to join their dynamic team in a fully remote position! In this leadership role, you'll oversee financial operations and fund accounting activities for the company’s real estate investment funds, including self-storage facilities and mixed-use building conversions. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of real estate fund accounting practices and possess strong financial reporting and analysis skills.

Pay Range: $170,000 - $210,000 DOE
Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial operations and fund accounting activities for real estate investment funds
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Monitor fund performance, analyze risk and return, and ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP)
- Manage fund accounting, including fund administration, capital calls, distributions, and investor reporting
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for annual audits and K-1 submissions
- Suggest and implement systems and process improvements for efficient fund accounting practices
- Stay up-to-date on accounting standards and regulatory practices related to the real estate industry
- Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- A minimum of 8 years of overall accounting and/or finance experience
- At least 2 years of direct experience in real estate fund accounting, preferably in commercial or industrial self-storage
- Proficient in financial reporting and analysis, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present to investors
- CPA/CFA qualifications is desirable but not required
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
